Student Found Dead at SU: Not Suspicious

A student died at Susquehanna University, according to officials.

The University released a statement about the death of Emma Cook, a sophomore:

“It is with heavy hearts that we write with news that Susquehanna sophomore Emma Cook, a resident assistant in Reed Hall, died unexpectedly earlier today. Emma of Merrimack, NH, was a member of Womenspeak and was involved with WQSU, the Gender and Sexuality Alliance and the SU Pokemon Club.
Counselors will be available through 2:30 a.m. this morning and beginning again at 8 a.m. in the Benjamin Apple Meeting Rooms.
Information on services will be forthcoming as it becomes available.
Please hold Emma, her family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.”

According to her Facebook page Emma was a in a relationship and from Merrimack, New Hampshire.

The death is not suspicious, according to officials.

UPDATE FROM SU “There will be a gathering at noon today in Arthur Plaza (the fountain area on the Deg lawn) to share memories of Emma Cook and to provide comfort to members of our community, especially those who were closest to Emma.

Dealing with grief is difficult. We encourage you to support each other and to seek the assistance of counselors, who will be available through 5 p.m. today in the Benjamin Apple Meeting Rooms in the Degenstein Campus Center. The university Counseling Center will have open office hours all day as well.”
