OSN INVESTIGATION: TRASHED! Pollution at the Susquehanna River! SEE THE VIDEO!

A once beautiful stretch of forest by the Susquehanna River has turned into a dumping ground of disgusting garbage.
An OSN investigation has revealed that people have been disposing they’re trash near the river in the Isle of Que: including plastic bags, smashed bottles, bed posts, and even a broken television.
Selinsgrove Borough Manager Paul Williams told the OSN that Penn Township is responsible for keeping the area clean. Penn Township Supervisors were not immediately available for comment.
However, Selinsgrove residents sure had plenty to say when showed images of the garbage.
“ I think it’d be really great if we had more recycling bins out in public. So it’s more accessible for people to recycle, instead of just throw it on the ground,” Selinsgrove resident, Mickey Sanders told the Orange Street News.
But the OSN intends to clean up this mess!
On Saturday February 11th at 2:30pm the OSN will start at the boat launch in the Isle of Que with garage bags and will walk the mile stretch picking up trash. Anybody who is interested in helping can meet us down there. Selinsgrove resident Brian Groce has agreed to lend his pick up truck for trash removal. Snacks and drinks will be provided by the OSN to anyone who shows up to help out.

Wind blows garbage around– when the water rises it lures the trash into the river and it floats down stream- this happens every year. Dumping in the pocanos has been a huge problem. I an constantly picking up beverage bottles and fast food wrappers in front my house- people are slobs. Recycling does not work. Some towns charge to drop em off and for me it is easier to put it in with regular garbage.I do think PA should have $1 bottle/can deposit.. the time has come

Thank you for caring about your river! Your concern for your environment is admirable.
Please be very careful during your clean up. Be sure to wear safety gloves and hard sole shoes. Do not open any of the discarded bottles because you don’t know what liquid is inside. Please have an adult near you at all times. And be very careful where you walk and what you touch. (There may be broken glass, jagged metal, and discarded hypodermic needles.)
Please do not go near the water’s edge. With a slip, you could find yourself in a very dangerous situation, especially during cold weather (and cold water).
Have you interviewed Zach Stotter with Susquehanna River Clean Up Project? He would be a very good resource for you.
There are certain times of the year that are better for clean-up projects, where clean-up safety tools are provided at no charge and there is assistance with disposal of tires and electronics. The next one is in May. I encourage you to postpone your clean up and involve others with clean-up experience.
