A vandal swiped a huge business sign Friday night in Selinsgrove.
The four foot high custom made wooden sign was stolen from outside of Uniquely Sakura, a popular jewelry store located on 22 Walnut Street.
“It is beyond me how someone could remove something of that size at a main intersection of town and not be seen,”Cheri DeSiena, the owner told the Orange Street News.
DeSiena has a good idea of who might be involved: the students at Susquehanna University. She has seen the students cause destruction to her property with her own eyes.
“It was only about a year ago I watched a group of students trample the one (sign) that I had on the corner of Water and Walnut. So it is not the first time,” said DeSiena.
She reported the recent incident to the Selinsgrove police who told her they are going to speak to the school security.
“The police said they would report it to college security and proclaimed that it was likely students,” said DeSiena.
Vandalism has been a serious problem in Selinsgrove.
Last month a patriotic Selinsgrove women had her flag stolen — for the tenth time!
On April 2nd, police caught a Susquehanna University student allegedly ripping up the plants at the Commons. In an exclusive interview, the student confessed to the destruction to the OSN.
Menaces have also been stealing campaign signs, shooting bb guns, stealing lights, and even leaving drugs at the park.
DeSiena says the sign is important for advertising. She is hoping someone will come forward who saw the vandal Friday night.
“Why?” she asked. “What could they possibly need to do that for?”
If anyone has any information on who stole Cheri’s sign please contact hildelysiak@gmail.com.
Unreal!! You’d think if it was students, by that age they would have better things to do with their time.

Why tell campus police? The theft wasn’t on university property. This wasn’t vandalism, either; it was theft, plain and simple. Tell the police to do their job and quit passing it off the campus police.
