Vandal Strikes Union Cemetery

By Hilde Kate Lysiak

A gravestone was graffitied at Union Cemetery.

A vandal damaged the stone marker for Judge Miles Potter with a peace sign along with the words “Big Boy.”

“People should not mess with the graveyard,” Mr. Vance, who lives next to the historic cemetery, told the Orange Street News.

Vance told the News he has not heard or seen anything suspicious at the cemetery.

Judge Miles Potter was well known and liked and died in September 1935, according to newspaper clippings.
