Police are investigating a possible murder at 9th Street in Selinsgrove
A man is suspected of murdering his wife with a hammer at 9th Street in Selinsgrove, sources told the Orange Street News.
Law enforcement sources will not confirm.
“This is an ongoing investigation,” an officer told the Orange Street News.
Residents reported seeing a person taken out on a stretcher but were told by police not to talk to media.
“They told us we can’t talk about anything,” one neighbor told the Orange Street News.
The woman is a former Selinsgrove borough employee. Many neighbors remembered her fondly.
“This is terrible. Just terrible,” one neighbor told the OSN. “I can’t believe this happened. She was such a wonderful woman. Very kind.”
The suspected murdered was a retired school teacher at Selinsgrove and the victim also worked as branch manager at a local bank manager on Market Street, according to neighbors.
“They seemed like a good, loving couple,” one neighbor told the Orange Street News. “I’m just in shock.”
The Chief of police, District Attorney, PA State police, and Coroner are on the scene.
The Orange Street News is withholding the name of the victim to make sure friends and family are told first.

My name is Josh Venkataraman and I am a student at the University of Florida. I’ve been reading your articles and I LOVE them. You are so talented and I wanted to share a story with you in case you wanted to write about it. A year ago I read a book called, “Devil in the Grove” by Gilbert King. It tells the story of four young African American men in 1948 in Groveland, FL who were falsely accused of assaulting a white woman. Two of the men were killed before they made it to court and the other two spent time in jail and carried their tainted name with them for the rest of their lives. The case was worked on by Thurgood Marshall and the NAACP. The last member of the Groveland Four died in 2012. I created a petition on change.org to exonerate these four men and clear their names and it already has more than 8,400 signatures. It was featured in the Miami Herald, Chicago Tribune, Arizona Star, etc. in an article written by Pullitzer-prize winning author, Leonard Pitts Jr. I think this is an important case in history and I believe it is so relevant with the black and white divide in contemporary America. If You could be a part of this case, it would be revolutionary for our cause. Whether through social media or if you wanted to be the face of this, I know this exoneration would happen. We have upcoming potential press opportunities with Huffington Post as well as Good Morning America. There is also a movie in production with Lionsgate to be directed by Anton Corbijn. In the past few weeks, as a result of the petition and our work, the City of Groveland and Lake County have both issued proclamations asking Governor Rick Scott to exonerate the Groveland Four.
