A “pop up” store proved to be a big success in Selinsgrove!
Mercantile tours around the country setting up their shop for one week in hopes that other businesses are inspired by the space and fill empty storefronts.
The “pop up” business set up shop at 21 North Market Street from October 17 to October 23.
‘’We are setting up creative out posts in store fronts in spaces that haven’t been paid attention to in a while or have been for sale for a long time so people can look at it in a different way. We show up on a Sunday night, set up the whole store in 24 hours, and then we’re here for exactly one week. While we are here we do community art projects, we do a repair and share class where we teach people how to sew and then on that Sunday one week later, we pack everything back in our van and move on to our next town’’, Ron Morris, one of the two owners of the shop told the OSN.
All the things they sell are made by Ken Jones Jr., and Ron Morris, the 2 owners of the shop. They also upcycle, and use wallpaper scraps that would be thrown away and make purses out of it!
“Its a really neat way to bring the community together,” costumer Tammy Ozlanski told the OSN.
Hi Hilde, you’re doing a great job. Just a style point. I reckon it’s pop-up, without the quotes. Anyway, keep up the good work.
