A local woman is lucky to be alive after a fire in an apartment above Bella’s Pizza restaurant on Market Street in Selinsgrove on Friday.
The fire began in the back of the building and did not spread, thanks to a fire alarm and a quick thinking employee who happens to also be a volunteer firefighter.
Scott Liddick, an employee at Bella’s, went to the apartment upstairs when he heard the smoke alarm.
‘’I saved the lady’s life and put the fire out so it would not spread,’’said Liddick, a fire fighter who works at the Sunbury Steam engine company number 1, told the OSN.
A woman who lives in the apartment was home at the time of the fire and was able to get out of the building safely.
Fire Fighters are still investigating the cause of the fire.
According to Liddick the lady in the apartment could of died if she was sleeping from the smoke.
‘’It could of been a lot worse,’’Liddick told the OSN.
