A local church is hosting its Sunday service over the radio to try to stop spreading the coronavirus.
After the town of Patagonia was announced to be in a state of emergency, The United Methodist Church in Patagonia has suspended church until April 6th, 2020. However, church services will be help over KPUP radio, according to Pastor Tom Jelinek.
“We’ll have a Virtual Worship Service this Sunday, 10:00 am on our Patagonia radio voice, KPUP, 100.5 on FM, or streamed at kpup.rocks,” Jelinek told the Orange Street News.
The church isn’t the only thing in Patagonia that is being affected by the coronavirus. Crown B Taqueria, The Hummingbird Sanctuary, and the Nature conservancy are just a few places that have been shut down because of the coronavirus.
Recently Patagonia was declared to be in a state of emergency. Businesses have not been forced to close, but are asked to take precautions.
“It is proclaimed and ordered that in order to flatten the curve of the spread of the COVID-19 virus, keep our hospitals from becoming overwhelmed, and maximize available funding,” read a flyer being handed out to local businesses.
Keep on reporting Hilde! This is a historical time, the more detail that’s preserved, the better! Cheers!
