A Selinsgrove man’s running streak has reached 900 straight days!
Beginning in the summer of 2014, Selinsgrove resident Matthew Lysiak has run five miles everyday day outside, beginning from his house on Orange Street to the Isle of Que and then back every day. He says he doesn’t run isn’t to stay in shape, but that as a way to get out his energy.
“I write a lot so I am stuck in a desk, writing,’’ lysiak told the OSN. “Running every day helps me to write better.”
He said usually who runs between 3:30 am and 7:30 am every day, and has no plans on stopping. (Full disclosure, Lysiak is the father of the OSN publisher)
According to the USRSA, which monitors running streaks, Lysiak’s would qualify as the 548th longest active running streak in America. But Lysiak would have a long way to go to reach first. The longest streak is listed at 47 years!
Lysiak says he has no plans on stopping — ever.
“I’m going to run until my feet fall off,” Lysiak told the OSN.
I sure hope he wears reflective clothing and has a light attached on his front and back. Those roads look very narrow. RUN SAFE!

It might be safer to run on the left side of the road. Or run around inside a park.

I like the fact that a member of the community is being acknowledged for a feat such as this but the ego could be turned down a bit.
