A Danville man was charged with possession after he was allegedly found at the Susquehanna Valley Mall “slurring his words” and repeatedly dropping a pair of shoes on October 15th.
Shawn Edward Ashton, 31, was allegedly stumbling around Payless Shoe Store at 2:18 pm when mall security notified the State Police. Ashton appeared confused after the Officer asked for his identification, according to the criminal complaint.
“Ashton seemed to be confused and had trouble giving his telephone number and zip code. As I continued speaking to Ashton he appeared to be having issues manipulating the pair of shoes he wanted to try on and would drop them,” read the criminal complaint.
But despite Ashton’s trouble holding the shoes, he was very determined to buy them, according to police.
“Ashton approached me and asked if he was able to pay for the shoes that he had selected. I informed Ashton that he could but that he was not free to leave until I was sure he had no warrants for his arrest. Ashton related that he understood and again dropped the shoes he was holding,” read the criminal complaint.
Next, police say Ashton pulled out a container holding marijuana.
Ashton was charged with Public Drunkeness and Possession.
A hearing will be held on 12/19 at 10:30 am at 1025 US 522 in Selinsgrove
