A Selinsgrove woman was charged with theft after allegedly attempting to steal nearly $130.00 worth of groceries, including over $40 in candy, from Weis Market in Selinsgrove, on 11/20/17, according to police.
Brenda Kay Shahin, 55, was allegedly busted “putting numerous items in a bag and failing to pay for the items,” according to police. The items totaled $126.47, and included twleve pack of gum, York Peppermint Patties, along with beef, chicken, and cream cheese. Shahin was caught when an employee observed her.
Shahin allegedly confessed to police, claiming that she just didn’t have the money, according to the criminal complaint.
“Shahin did admit to failing to pay for the items indicating she has been having financial issues,” read the criminal complaint.
Shahin was charged with theft and more.
A hearing will be held on 1/02 at 9:30 at 1020 us rt 522, in Selinsgrove.
