Business owners in Selinsgrove have been having a good holiday season.
Business owners have reported to the Orange Street News that during the important time in between Thanksgiving and Christmas, business has improved over previous years.
At the Kind Cafe, the Gingerbread lattes are always a big hit.
“Our sales are going up. We see more customers,” Alex Karbich, an employee at the Kind Cafe told the Orange Street News.
The Mustard Seed has seen a surge of Christmas time customers.
“We’ve had a good year,” Sharon Garybill, manager of the Mustard Seed told the OSN.
“We’ve saved items all year long to put out during Christmas and people love them and go Christmas shopping,” added Garybill.
Kelsy Clark, manager of the The Pink Pin Up, says that she has seen business improve over the past year.
“Our business has been growing. More people are getting to know us better,” Clark told the OSN.
It is a trend Clark hopes to see continuing.
“I would like to see more businesses. It would benefit everyone,” added Clark.
Helen Walter, President of the Selinsgrove Area Chamber of Commerce told the OSN in an email that local promotions and a rising economy helped business this holiday season.
“Yes, we have had a good season. The Holiday Passport brought a lot of new people into our shop who had never taken time to stop before. I had many comments from “contestants” saying they have loved visiting all of the participating businesses. We had people from 3 states complete passports, but many were local, and all 3 of the Grand Prize winners were from Selinsgrove area! I also think the economy is good, with the stock market hitting so many record highs this year, consumer confidence seems to have improved! And with the new tax reform, it could be a very good 2018 for businesses!” said Walter.
