A new restaurant opening in Patagonia hopes to bring the community together.
Taqueria will open it doors mid-January at 328 Naugle Ave, according to owners James and Alexis Banks. The new owners say they want to bring the flavor from Mexico to Patagonia in a tasty way that families can afford.
“We loved Mexico and wanted to bring those flavors here,” Alexis Banks told the Orange Street News, “Everything here (in Patagonia) is so touristy and over priced, so we wanted to have a restaurant that was affordable to help bring the community together.”
The couple first had the idea to open the restaurant after Alexis and James Banks, who is from Texas but grew up in Patagonia, saw MJ’s restaurant had closed down at the spot, and wanted to take action.
“I had this pit feeling in my stomach that wouldn’t go away,” Alexis told the Orange Street News.
The restaurant will sell street tacos, sides authentic Mexican sodas, and will feature a self serve taco bar with gluten free and vegan options.
“There is really something for everyone,” added Alexis.
“[The restaurant} is in dedication to my husbands father, [we wanted] to keep alive his legacy of love . He was a horse trainer and all the pictures in here are of him or the family,” Alexis told the OSN.
