A local church has suspended its meetings because of the coronavirus.
After the town of Patagonia was announced to be in a state of emergency, The United Methodist Church in Patagonia has suspended church until April 6th, 2020.
A sign posted in the Post Office said the services have been cancelled on guidance from local and state health organizations and that, “The conference chose these dates based on our hope that we may be able to gather for Resurrection Sunday on April 12.
The notice also added that the suspension might last longer.
“We need our communities to be prepared to be able to extend the suspension based on the reality the suspension based on the reality of this pandemic as it unfolds.
The church isn’t the only thing in Patagonia that is being affected by the coronavirus. Crown B Taqueria, The Hummingbird Sanctuary, and the Nature conservancy are just a few places that have been shut down because of the coronavirus.
Yesterday Patagonia was declared to be in a state of emergency. Businesses have not been forced to close, but are asked to take precautions.
“It is proclaimed and ordered that in order to flatten the curve of the spread of the COVID-19 virus, keep our hospitals from becoming overwhelmed, and maximize available funding,” read a flyer being handed out to local businesses.
