Could new street lights in Selinsgrove help put a stop to all the vandalism?
By the beginning of Fall brand new street lights will be up on Market and Pine Streets and officials hope that it will mean vandals have fewer places to strike.
“I think it is going to be a really nice addition to the town,” a Brough worker told the Orange Street News.
More importantly, officials are also hoping it shines a light on the recent rash of vandalism.
“It will be extra safety for anyone walking downtown,” the employee added.
Vandalism has been a real problem in Selinsgrove especially near the intersection of Market and Pine.
A 21-year old SU student admitted vandalism to the OSN.
Menaces have been tearing up plants, stealing lights, egging houses, defacing gravestones, damaging local businesses, and even leaving drugs at the park.
It has gotten so bad that police have told residents to keep their cars in their garage to prevent damage.
