VANDALISM? CORRUPTION? HAVE NO WHERE ELSE TO TURN? NO STORY TOO BIG OR SMALL THE OSN WILL INVESTIGATE! Please email news tips to Hildelysiak@gmail.com
This month’s wood is about Susquehanna University’s Director of Public Safety David Gardner. On June 17th he left his position. The University would not say whether Gardner was fired or resigned, but the people of Selinsgrove can make their own guesses about what happened.
Gardner was the man who banned Al Peterson from the University for being a suspected creeper even though he was actually with his family the entire time while looking for his lost dog. His dog was later found dead. Even after the University realized they made a mistake they refused to allow Al on the property, even to watch his kids go swimming.
But banning Peterson was only the latest controversy involving Gardener since he began at the University in July, 2015.
Last April the OSN reported how students created a petition to fight back on what they said were aggressive policing by Gardner and campus security that was signed by nearly 700 students.
In May Gardner was caught on video blocking a reporter from trying to cover a baseball playoff game.
The OSN thinks it is good for Selinsgrove that he is no longer in that position. Hopefully, SU will find a better Director of Public Safety. and when they do, the OSN will be the first to welcome him or her with an interview.
