Biz”Brainstorming” Session to be held in Grove!

By Hilde Kate Lysiak

A brainstorming event is being held in Selinsgrove to discuss new ideas to help local business on Monday, January 30th.

The Selinsgrove Chamber of Commerce is asking business owners, managers, employers and employees to come to the “Pizza and & Possibilities Brainstorming Event” to gather input, success, and challenges. The Brainstorming Meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the fellowship hall in All Saints Episcopal Church, 129 N Market St. It will have free pizza!

“Its important that the businesses have a voice,” Selinsgrove Chamber of Commerce President and business owner, Helen Walters, told the Orange Street News.

According to Walters, the purpose of the event is to discuss issues or ideas that would help keep business growing in Selinsgrove.

“I want to get input from the business–what’s going well and what their challenges are,” Walters told the OSN.

Below is a copy of the letter sent to businesses

“The Selinsgrove Area Chamber of Commerce is kicking off 2017 with a “Brainstorming Meeting” to help us support and encourage you more effectively. This will be an important time to gather information from you which we will pass along to the ‘steering group’ working on a new Comprehensive Plan for the borough. As Business Owners, Managers, Employers and Employees, your daily experiences, successes, challenges, frustrations, and victories need to be shared. Together, we can make a difference . . . .really! The Brainstorming Meeting will be held on MONDAY, JAN 30th, at 6:30 p.m. at the fellowship hall in All Saints Episcopal Church, 129 N Market St. The Chamber will provide pizza! Bob Garrett, from the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce, will serve as the discussion facilitator. We hope you can join us on Monday Evening, Jan 30.”

After a terrible 2016, business is picking up in Selinsgrove.

This month the OSN has reported that three new businesses: Tudor House Pies, Shady Pines Primitives, and Color Outside the Lines all plan on setting up shop within the month.
