A new music video claims that the town of Selinsgrove is stuck in the 80’s — in a good way!
Thirteen year old singer/songwriter Isabel Lysiak told the OSN she was inspired to write “The Dream of the 80’s is Alive in Selinsgrove,” after watching her six-year old sister Georgie playing in the neighborhood.
“I grew up hearing about how kids had more freedom in the 80’s. My little sister just turned six and she is out running around the neighborhood all day. It is like she is living in an eighties movie. It’s great. Growing up in Brooklyn I wasn’t allowed to do that,” Lysiak told the OSN.

Lysiak says the song is a parody of a video called “Dream of the 90’s is Alive in Portand” that she saw on the comedy show Portlandia.
Lysiak’s video features people dressed up in 80’s fashion strutting through many familiar spots around Selinsgrove including Moose Playground and the Isle of Que and mentions popular Snyder County activities like tubing, cow-tipping, and even eating squirrel pot pie.
“After moving here I literally had a teacher tell me he ate squirrel pot pie. I thought it was a joke. I wanted to throw up. That was kind of a welcome to Selinsgrove moment for me,” she told the OSN.
The video also stars Holden Dent of Bloomsburg.
Lysiak told the OSN that while she likes living in Selinsgrove, she plans on moving back to New York City when she turns 18.
The “Dream of the 80’s” is the fourth single released by Lysiak.
Isabel is also an actress. Last year Isabel was awarded in New York at the Tribeca Disruptive Innovator awards for her work as a columnist/multi-media editor. Soon she will be starring in Heidi’s Monkeys.
The video was produced by director Jordan Gibson of Mosaic East Videos. The music was produced by author/musician Jeff Willoughby, who gained fame in the rock group Hybrid Ice.
