Officials Pledge to “Get to Bottom” of Vandalism

Town officials are promising an end to the vandalism that has been terrorizing Selinsgrove!

The plant haters struck the Selinsgrove Commons late Friday and Sunday nights, tipping large planters over, spreading a mess of dirt everywhere, stealing shrubs and ripping several expensive plants up from the ground.

“I’m really mad,” said Carol Handlin, who takes care of the Selinsgrove Commons.

Somehow, the elusive vandals avoided getting their pictures taken because they didn’t create enough motion to activate the cameras set up at the commons, according to town officials.

“The trees are very light and can easily be pulled,” added Bruce Johnson.

The Orange Street News checked with local business, but no one had footage pointed at the spot.

“We are going to get to the bottom of this,” Carol promised the Orange Street News.

The vandals have been an embarrassment for the Selinsgrove Police Department.

Police headquarters is located only two blocks away from the scene of the repeated crimes. The Orange Street News tried to get a comment from the police, but no one answered the door at the police station.

Cases of vandalism have been on the rise in Selinsgrove.

Menaces have been tearing up plants, stealing lights, egging houses, defacing gravestones, damaging local businesses, and even leaving drugs at the park.

Police say they are helpless to stop the vandalism, and have instead told residents to keep their cars in their garage to prevent damage.

Even a picture of one of the vandals wasn’t enough.

The Borough promises a fifth police officer will be on patrol this Spring.

The Orange Street News is still offering a $100 reward for any information leading to the vandal getting caught.

Any one with information or to report cases of vandalism please email hildelysiak@gmail.com

So, do you think the fifth police officer will answer the door at the police station?
