Members of the Dauntless Hook and Ladder Fire Company have been accused of falsifying meeting minutes and making unauthorized purchases, sources have exclusively told the Orange Street News.
“It appears they were falsifying the minutes to cover for the fact they are required to have meetings,” the source told the OSN. “It appears they circumvented set procedures to buy things they personally felt the fire company needed.”
Four members of the DH&L company were suspended “pending an investigation,” according to the source.
There is no indication the purchases made were for personal items, according to the source. However, Fire Station money can only be used to purchase certain things, according to state law. The OSN cannot confirm what was bought with the money.
The DH&L Fire Company is a 100% Volunteer Fire Company and has a great reputation in the community. Sources told the OSN that the problems are the result of “a few bad apples.”
When contacted, the Penn Township Supervisors claimed they didn’t have any information.
Borough Manager Paul Williams, when asked about the suspensions, told the Orange Street News that he wasn’t going to comment.
“It’s a personnel matter,” Williams told the OSN.
DH&L Fire Company Chief Brandon Ulrich told the OSN that the information should have never gone public. “This is a internal investigation that should never have been leaked out and will be handled accordingly.”
The next fire company meeting is set for February 13th, Monday, at 7pm.
